Dr. Collins joined Greensboro Orthopaedics in 1991. He is a senior partner of Greensboro Orthopaedics. Dr. Collins is Greensboro’s first board-certified, sports medicine fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon. He specializes in shoulder & knee injuries/pathologies. In his practice, he predominantly cares for patients with injuries/conditions frequently resulting from sport and work-related accidents as well as those suffering from degenerative joint conditions. Dr. Collins’s patients range from pediatric to geriatric stages of life.

Dr. Collins has a special interest in treating disorders of the knee in particular ligamentous (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL), meniscal, and articular cartilage conditions. Articular cartilage procedures include microfracture, osteochrondral autograft/allografts, autologous chondrocyte implantation “ACI” “Carticel Procedure.”

He also specializes in shoulder conditions involving the arthroscopic treatment of the rotator cuff, labrum, and AC joint. These conditions may range from shoulder instability in the young to rotator cuff problems in the middle-aged and older population.

Community involvement is important to Dr. Collins as he generously provides sports medicine care for the student-athletes within the Triad and participates in local charity events. Dr. Collins enjoys being involved in the care of athletes of all ages at any level of competition. Dr. Collins serves as the Team Physician at Northwest High School. He also takes pride in providing sports medicine care for student-athletes of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and NCAA Basketball Championships. Greensboro Orthopaedics has been the official medical host of numerous ACC Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Swimming and Diving, Baseball, as well as Women’s Golf Championships.

Dr. Collins’s love of medicine, surgery, and athletics led him to strive for a career in orthopaedic medicine. His approach to patient care is laid-back and welcoming. He finds fulfillment in relieving a patient’s pain and improving their function in order for them to return to an active lifestyle.
