Cari Teague, LAT, ATC
Cari Teague joined EmergeOrtho Triad Region in 2019. She is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (AT), putting the well-being of student-athletes first. Cari’s primary responsibility at EmergeOrtho is to serve as the Head Certified Athletic Trainer at Caldwell Academy. Cari and Jason Rogers, MD, orthopedic surgeon, work in conjunction to provide sports medicine services with the best interest of the student-athlete in mind.
Following the completion of her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at East Carolina University, Cari served as the Head Certified Athletic Trainer at Farmville Central High School (FCHS) in Greenville, NC. At FCHS, she provided athletic training services for 24 athletic teams while maintaining constant communication with coaches, parents, student-athletes, administration, and the sports medicine team. She also served as a clinical preceptor to undergraduate athletic training students from East Carolina University.
As the Head Certified Athletic Trainer at Caldwell Academy, Cari provides preventative care, injury & illness evaluations, as well as treatment & rehabilitation of emergent, acute, and chronic medical conditions. She provide awareness, education, and intervention to minimize the risk of injury and illness of student-athletes. Interventions often include tape application, bracing, and sport-specific protective equipment. Cari uses her clinical knowledge to complete both on-the-field and off-the-field evaluations to determine a plan of care or medical referral when necessary. She prepares and maintains appropriate health record documentation related to the student-athlete. Cari strives to provide a safe environment for all student-athletes.
While motivated to keep athletes on the playing surface, Cari continues to expand her professional knowledge. She has an interest in personalized blood flow restriction rehabilitation and pharmacology. Cari’s enthusiasm in providing athletic training services and her curiosity in clinical education is remarkable. She is an integral part of the Sports Medicine Team at EmergeOrtho Triad Region.
