Diagnostic Imaging in Greensboro, NC
Greensboro Orthopaedics offers the most advanced diagnostic imaging technology to patients. From digital X-ray to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to fluoroscopy to diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, patients at Greensboro Orthopaedics have access to state-of-the-art imaging services. These services allow the physicians at Greensboro Orthopaedics to more accurately diagnose and care for their patients.
The benefits of digital x-rays are superior to traditional film x-rays. With digital technology, a patient’s x-ray experience is faster and less stressful. The use of digital x-ray eliminates the need for film processing and allows the image to be viewed on a computer screen in the patient exam room. The images produced with digital technology are clearer resulting in a more accurate diagnosis.
The MRI Suite at Greensboro Orthopaedics is located at our Signature Place office in Greensboro. MRI is a non-invasive method of imaging for physicians to safely study an individual’s internal anatomy to diagnose injury and disease. The MRI Suite is equipped with a Siemens Magnetom Espree 1.5T scanner. The unique design of the scanner is enhances patient comfort and access.
Greensboro Orthopaedics has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). MRI is a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce anatomical images of internal body parts to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. Learn more about MRI
The ESI Suite at Greensboro Orthopaedics is equipped with fluoroscopy imaging technology. Fluoroscopy is a type of imaging that enables a physician to view different body systems. To examine a specific area of the body, using fluoroscopy, a continuous X-ray beam is passed through the patient and transmitted to a monitor to be viewed in detail. Dr. Richard Ramos uses the fluoroscopy equipment for guidance as he performs spinal injections and other procedures for pain relief and diagnostic procedures.
Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
At Greensboro Orthopaedics, Dr. Adam Kendall uses diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound to diagnose and treat patient’s injuries and conditions. Sound waves are used to produce images of a patient’s internal body tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints a
nd soft tissue throughout the body). Ultrasound gel is applied directly to the patient’s skin and a small ultrasound head (transducer) is moved over the area of concern. The ultrasound head collects the “sounds” and the “sounds” are transmitted back to a computer where an image(s) is produced. Ultrasound imaging is safe and painless. The images are commonly used to diagnose tears, sprains, strains, nerve entrapments, and inflammation.
