Gard Erlandsson joined our EmergeOrtho Triad Region team in 2014. She is an experienced occupational therapist, specializing as a Certified Hand Therapist. Gard has 23 years of diverse experience, in rehabilitation management, education, research, and clinical work. Gard graduated from University of Toronto with a bachelor’s degree and from Boston University with a master’s degree, both in occupational therapy. She primarily cares for patients with injuries and conditions involving the hand, wrist, and elbow. Many of Gard’s patients have often undergone surgery and range from pediatric to geriatric stages of life.

Prior to joining our Hand Therapy Services department at EmergeOrtho, Gard spent five years working in China, in specialty hospitals treating patients with traumatic injuries to the hand, elbow, and shoulder. Gard has published studies in 3 different countries in the scope of hand rehabilitation. She co-authored “The Hand Manual”, published in China and used by clinicians and students. Gard has worked in upper extremity rehabilitation in multiple countries and believes in treating her patients holistically, incorporating culture, and individual’s values & beliefs. Developing and maintaining positive relationships with patients, coworkers, and her community is important to Gard. She is actively involved in her community and believes giving in back She is supportive of youth sport and local charity events. Her expertise, experience, and compassion are irreplaceable.
